Ruru — Terms of Use

Effective 14 August 2026 · Applies to the Ruru iOS app

These terms are an agreement between you and Unforkable ("we"), the maker of Ruru. By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you got Ruru from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two conflict, these terms apply to the extent permitted.

What Ruru is — and isn't

Ruru is a bedtime ritual: a character who calls you at the time you choose and settles only when your phone is on its charger. It is a habit and wellbeing tool.

It is not a medical product. Ruru does not diagnose, treat, or cure anything, and nothing in the app is medical advice. If you have or suspect a sleep disorder, or any health condition affected by sleep, talk to a qualified professional. The figures the app shows (days, hours, years) are estimates computed from your own answers and are labelled as such; they are motivation, not measurement.

Don't rely on Ruru as an alarm for critical obligations. Ruru calls you to bed; it is not built to be your only wake-up alarm, and like any app its alarms and notifications can be delayed or prevented by the operating system, Focus modes, low power state, or the device being off.

Your subscription

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Ruru on Apple devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not copy, sell, rent, or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse engineer or modify it except where the law expressly allows it despite this term.

Your content

The photo of your charger spot, your signature, and your name stay on your device and remain yours. We claim no rights over them and, as described in the privacy policy, we never receive them.

Our content

The app, the Ruru character, and all artwork, video, sounds, and text in the app belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. The license above doesn't transfer any of that to you.

Third-party services

Purchases run through Apple, and the subscription paywall is operated by Superwall; each acts under its own terms and privacy policy. What data is involved is described in the privacy policy.

Warranty and liability

Ruru is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including a missed bedtime, a missed morning, or lost sleep — and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Ruru in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for intent or gross negligence.

Ending things

You can stop using Ruru at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate the license if you materially breach these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. The date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Ruru after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence remains unaffected. Place of jurisdiction, where the law allows it to be agreed, is the seat of Unforkable in Switzerland.
